TU Delft Personal Data workflow and related agreements and documents
As a TU Delft researcher, you have to follow the Personal Research Data Workflow for every research project that involves personal research data.
As a PhD supervisor, it is your responsibility that PhD candidates follow the TU Delft Personal Data workflow and complete all the relevant documentation and processes BEFORE they start collecting personal research data within their projects.
When collecting personal data and/or working with human subjects in research projects, it is crucial to work ethically and protect the privacy of the participants and avoid any potential risks for them. All this can be affected by the design of the research project, the research questions you want to answer, the type of information you would like to collect from the human participants in the project and how and with whom you want to share that information.
The flowchart ‘Personal Data and related agreements and documents’ presented here is a step-by-step guide to help you identify which agreements, documents and approvals you need according to the design of your specific research project.
In the flowchart you see questions at different ‘crossroads’. Depending on the answer to the question you turn left or right, this way you can see exactly what you need to arrange before your research project can get off to a good start.
You can use the flowchart when you start a new project with the PhD candidates. It will help you and the PhD candidate prepare all the necessary documents and to plan for the time needed to get all the necessary approvals in order before the data collection can start.
